A Cayuga County jury convicted a man of murder following a trial related to a 2022 killing in Auburn.
Daniel Nachtsheim, 62, of Auburn, was found guilty of second-degree murder after a bench trial in Cayuga County Court.
Prosecutors said the conviction stems from the June 6, 2022 death of Audrey August, 49, on Grant Avenue.
Authorities said the victim died from blunt force injuries and stab wounds, including wounds inflicted with a pair of scissors.
Officials said evidence showed the defendant was present at the scene and that forensic analysis linked him to the victim.
The case was prosecuted by the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office.
Nachtsheim faces a sentence of 25 years to life and is scheduled to be sentenced April 23. He remains in custody pending sentencing.
