Several members of the Seneca Falls Police Department received awards this week recognizing years of service and actions in the line of duty.
The honors were presented during the March 3 meeting of the Seneca Falls Town Board.
Police Chief Timothy Snyder received a 25 Years of Service Award recognizing his decades of service with the department.
Sergeant Bethany Kidd and Officer David Darling were each presented with the Life Saving Award. Officials said the recognition was given for their swift actions that directly resulted in saving a life.
Officer Bryce Rumfelt received the Excellence in Police Service Award for performance and professionalism while serving the community.
Officer Dustin Hathaway was given the Accommodation Award for his actions during an active shooter call in nearby Waterloo.
Sergeant Logan Burgdorf received the department’s Combat Valor Award for his actions during the same incident. Officials said Burgdorf was fired upon during the call and returned fire to protect others.
The department said the recognition marks the first time the Combat Valor Award has been presented in the history of the Seneca Falls Police Department.
