Judicial complaints hit record in NY

More than 3,300 complaints against judges poured into New York’s judicial watchdog last year, setting a new record, according to the Times Union.

The state Commission on Judicial Conduct received 3,363 misconduct complaints in 2025 — just 10 more than the previous record set in 2024. Investigations led to 28 judges resigning and seven others receiving public censures.

The commission opened 141 new investigations and carried over 189 from 2024. Some judges stepped down after findings of misconduct, including one justice who failed to recuse himself from cases tied to attorneys involved in his reelection campaign.
