NY pushes to lock in reproductive access

New York lawmakers rolled out a sweeping response to federal uncertainty over abortion and IVF, according to Tompkins Weekly. State Sen. Lea Webb is leading a 14-bill package aimed at protecting reproductive rights, expanding fertility coverage, and strengthening patient privacy.

The proposals boost support for abortion providers, widen access to contraception, and expand insurance coverage for IVF, including protections for same-sex couples and people over 35. Several bills would also let pharmacists play a bigger role in contraceptive care.

The push comes as President Donald Trump and federal agencies clash over IVF-related workplace rules, prompting state lawmakers to move quickly to safeguard access in New York.
