Cornell men’s hockey continued its strong run with a 4-1 victory over Harvard on Saturday night at Lynah Rink, closing an eight-game homestand in front of an over-capacity crowd. The win improved Cornell to 14-5-0 overall and 9-3-0 in ECAC Hockey play.

After a scoreless first period, Cornell broke the game open early in the second. Jake Kraft opened the scoring at the 11:27 mark, and defenseman George Fegaras followed just 26 seconds later to give the Big Red a 2-0 lead. Cornell controlled the middle frame, outshooting Harvard 12-4 and owning extended offensive-zone possession.

Aiden Long extended the advantage late in the second period, capitalizing on sustained pressure to make it 3-0 heading into intermission. Jonathan Castagna added insurance early in the third period on a two-on-one rush, restoring a three-goal cushion after Harvard briefly cut into the deficit.

Castagna and Long each finished with a goal and an assist, while Kraft and Fegaras also found the net. Freshman goaltender Alexis Cournoyer earned the win with 17 saves, turning aside key chances to keep Cornell in control. Harvard’s lone goal came early in the third period, ending Cournoyer’s shutout bid.

Cornell capped its homestand with a 7-1-0 record and improved to 11-1-0 at Lynah Rink this season. The Big Red are unbeaten in their last seven meetings against Harvard.

Box Score

Cornell opens a road stretch next weekend, traveling to face Yale on Friday at 7 p.m. and Brown on Saturday at 5 p.m. The two teams were previously swept at Lynah Rink earlier this season.
