Hobart hockey remained unbeaten with a 1-0 SUNYAC road victory over Skidmore on Saturday afternoon at the Saratoga Springs City Rink. The win pushed Hobart to 18-0-0 overall and 11-0-0 in conference play, setting a program record for wins to start a season.
First-year forward Adam Ondris provided the lone goal with 4:29 remaining in regulation, finishing a rebound in the low slot after sustained pressure following an offensive-zone faceoff. The goal was Ondris’ fourth of the season and stood as the difference in a tightly contested rivalry game.

Senior goaltender Mavrick Goyer anchored the shutout, stopping all 20 shots he faced to earn his 17th career shutout. Skidmore goaltender Kyle Ozgun was equally busy, making 32 saves in 58 minutes of action as the Thoroughbreds leaned on shot blocking and defensive structure to keep the game scoreless into the final minutes.
Hobart controlled play for much of the afternoon, holding a 33-20 edge in shots on goal and hitting three goal posts. Skidmore blocked 21 shots as both teams came up empty on the power play. Hobart finished 0-for-1 with the man advantage, while Skidmore went 0-for-4.
The victory marked Hobart’s 24th consecutive win and extended its unbeaten streak to 31 games. The Statesmen have now won 12 straight road contests and recorded their seventh shutout of the season.
Hobart returns home Friday, January 30, opening a three-game homestand against Canton. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at The Cooler.
