A state prison inmate admitted sending a violent threat to the governor last fall, according to the Finger Lakes Times. The case centers on a letter mailed from Five Points Correctional Facility that warned of deadly consequences if demands weren’t met.
Prosecutors say the inmate later identified as Scott Bushey, 27, pleaded guilty to making a terroristic threat after writing to Kathy Hochul and threatening harm to her family and office. The letter demanded the release of another inmate within 48 hours.
Bushey will serve a five-year prison sentence after finishing his current term. Authorities say the threat was not credible but serious enough to warrant prosecution, and sentencing is scheduled for March.
