Cornell men’s basketball snaps skid, cruises past Brown as Cooper Noard reaches 1,000 points

Cornell men’s basketball earned a much-needed Ivy League road win on Monday afternoon, rolling past Brown 89-67 at the Pizzitola Sports Center to snap a three-game skid. The Big Red improved to 8-9 overall and 1-3 in Ivy League play, while the Bears fell to 7-10 and 1-3 in conference action.

Senior Jake Fiegen delivered a career performance, scoring a career-high 31 points on an efficient 12-of-15 shooting night while adding nine rebounds. Classmate Cooper Noard finished with 20 points and reached the 1,000-point milestone for his career, becoming the 29th player in program history to do so. Noard capped the first half with a buzzer-beating three-pointer that punctuated a decisive 22-5 run and sent Cornell into the locker room with a commanding 45-28 lead.

Cornell shot 53.4 percent from the field and connected on 12-of-29 attempts from beyond the arc. The Big Red assisted on 20 of its 31 made field goals, outscored Brown 38-24 in the paint, and held a 34-29 edge on the glass. Sophomore Anthony Nimani returned to the lineup and provided a spark off the bench with nine points, while Jacob Beccles added six points, five assists, and three steals. Kaspar Sepp contributed six rebounds and five assists.

Defensively, Cornell limited Brown to 34 percent shooting in the first half and forced 10 turnovers before the break. Jeremiah Jenkins led the Bears with 17 points, and Isaiah Langham added 14 off the bench.

Cornell closes out its three-game Ivy League road trip on Saturday when it visits Harvard. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Lavietes Pavilion.
