Cornell women’s hockey saw its weekend road trip come to a close with a 3-1 loss to No. 13 Yale on Saturday afternoon at Ingalls Rink. The No. 10 Big Red slipped to 12-7-2 on the season, while the Bulldogs improved to 16-7-0.

Yale capitalized on special teams early, scoring twice on the power play during the opening period after Cornell was whistled for four penalties. Carina DiAntonio and Stephanie Stainton found the net midway through the first to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. Cornell answered late in the frame when Grace Dwyer scored her team-leading goal, finishing a feed from Beatrice Perron-Roy to pull the Big Red within one heading into intermission.
The teams played an even second period, but Yale added an insurance goal at the 15:25 mark when Emma McGowan extended the lead to 3-1. Cornell generated chances throughout the contest, finishing with 34 shots on goal, but Yale goaltender Samson Frey turned aside 33 shots, including 15 in the opening period.
Annelies Bergmann was strong in net for Cornell, making 31 saves and recording her ninth game of the season with at least 25 stops. The Big Red had three power-play opportunities in the third period but could not convert, while Yale finished 2-for-6 with the extra skater. Cornell pulled Bergmann for an extra attacker in the final minutes, but the Bulldogs’ defense held firm to seal the win.
Cornell returns home on Tuesday for a nonconference showdown against No. 4 Penn State. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Lynah Rink.
