A major leadership change is coming to Syracuse University, according to Spectrum News. Chancellor Kent Syverud plans to leave SU and take over as president of the University of Michigan, based on a report from MLive.com.
Syverud already announced plans to step down from Syracuse University in June 2026. He has led the university since 2014 after earlier roles at Washington University in St. Louis and Vanderbilt University.
During his tenure, SU’s endowment passed $2 billion and the school added nearly 700 faculty members. Syverud grew up in Irondequoit.
