Freezing nights have triggered a lifeline for people without shelter in Steuben County, according to the Hornell Evening Tribune. County officials activated Code Blue protections and opened a warming center in the Town of Bath.
The county contracted with Bridge to Hope to run the site, which offers beds, meals, showers, laundry, and transportation for up to 20 people. The center operates when temperatures drop below 32 degrees and will remain available through April 30.
Anyone needing shelter can contact the Steuben County Department of Social Services or dial the 2-1-1 Helpline for help getting to the warming center.
