Police arrested a man early Sunday after officers responding to a noise complaint say he threatened them with a knife inside an Ithaca apartment building.
Jason M. Noble, 43, of Ithaca, was taken into custody around 1:33 a.m. in the 100 block of East Green Street, according to Ithaca police.
Officers said they were dispatched to a multi-unit building for a noise complaint when they located Noble inside. Police said officers knew Noble had multiple active arrest warrants.
Police said officers attempted to take Noble into custody when he presented a knife and threatened officers on scene. A brief physical altercation followed, according to police.
During the incident, officers said Noble was observed consuming an unknown white powdery substance before being handcuffed. Police said medical personnel later evaluated him for the ingestion and for minor injuries from the altercation.
Police said no officers were injured.
Police said Noble had active warrants for resisting arrest, second-degree forgery, second-degree criminal impersonation, and criminal mischief.
Following the incident, police said Noble now faces new charges, including felony menacing, resisting arrest, tampering with physical evidence, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Police said Noble was arraigned in Ithaca City Court before Judge Peacock. He was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail without bail.
Police reminded the public that people arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Ithaca Police Department.
