Finger Lakes groups take climate fight to Albany

Environmental groups across the Finger Lakes are gearing up to confront Gov. Kathy Hochul in person, according to the Finger Lakes Times. Six local organizations signed a statewide protest letter accusing her of rolling back key climate commitments.

The groups say Hochul reversed course by backing a fracked gas pipeline, approving permits for a crypto mining plant, and stalling the All-Electric Buildings Act. They argue those moves weaken New York’s ability to cut greenhouse gas emissions.

Representatives plan to rally in Albany on Jan. 13 during Hochul’s State of the State address, calling on her to rescind permits, stop new fossil fuel projects, and fully enforce the state’s landmark climate law.
