Cannabis sellers say tracking system isn’t ready

New York’s cannabis retailers say the state’s new seed-to-sale system is rushed, glitchy, and could wreck holiday sales, according to Spectrum News 1.

The system, meant to track legal cannabis from cultivation to checkout, is set to launch Dec. 17. But growers and sellers say they lack the time, tech, and cash to meet the deadline—especially with retail ID tag fees piling up.

The tracking vendor Metrc says sales can continue during onboarding, but retailers fear software disruptions and big losses. Industry leaders are urging the state to delay until after the new year.
