No. 8 Cornell women’s hockey was unable to break through offensively Friday night, falling 3-0 to No. 9 Quinnipiac at Lynah Rink. The loss marked the Big Red’s first home shutout since 2022 and dropped them to 10-4-1, while the Bobcats moved to 14-4-1.

Cornell generated the bulk of its offense in the third period, outshooting Quinnipiac 23-2 as Piper Grober and Lindzi Avar each recorded four shots, all coming in the final frame. Despite the late surge, Bobcats goaltender Frank Felicia turned aside all 34 shots she faced. Annelies Bergmann finished with 15 saves for the Big Red, including 12 in a busy first period.
Quinnipiac controlled the opening 20 minutes with aggressive pressure, limiting Cornell to just two shots. The Big Red also faced significant penalty trouble late in the frame, heading into intermission down multiple skaters. Shortly after the penalties expired, the Bobcats capitalized, with Barbirati opening the scoring early in the second. Watson doubled the lead midway through the period, and Emerson struck on a breakaway minutes later to make it 3-0.
Cornell pushed relentlessly in the third, earning three power plays in a seven-minute stretch and pulling Bergmann for an extra attacker with under six minutes left. The Big Red created several dangerous looks, but Quinnipiac’s defense and Felicia’s strong goaltending held firm.
Cornell returns to action Saturday at home against Princeton, with puck drop set for 3 p.m.
