Two burned-out cars with bodies inside set off a deadly chain of events in Lewis County, according to Spectrum News 1.
State police say troopers responded Friday after a homeowner in Diana spotted an armed person on a security feed. Investigators then found two victims inside separate burned vehicles and set up a perimeter nearby.
Authorities say the suspect emerged from a home with a long gun and opened fire on troopers. Officers returned fire and killed the suspect at the scene.
Police continue to investigate and say there’s no ongoing threat to the public.
