Palmyra kicks off the holidays with all-day celebration and Parade of Lights

The Village of Palmyra is ready to light up the season with a full day of holiday festivities this Saturday, November 29 — all part of a cheerful push to support small businesses and bring the community together.

Events will run throughout the day across the village, including shopping, music, food, crafts, and a festive Parade of Lights featuring a grand arrival by Santa himself. The celebration wraps up in the Village Park with caroling and the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony.

Local shopping kicks off at 10 a.m. with the Merchant’s Gnome Hunt and continues until 5 p.m. Families can visit the Holiday Pop-Up Market at the Palmyra Community Library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or stop by the Parks & Rec Room at 149 E Main St. for ornament decorating, coffee, and treats provided by Little Gems Bakery.

From noon to 6 p.m., James R. Hickey Post 120 of the American Legion will be serving hotdogs and chili in the Village Park. Meanwhile, B&E Cider Works and Vino Valet will be offering drinks from noon to 7 p.m.

The main event begins at 5 p.m. with the Parade of Lights. Floats will roll out from the PCC entrance of the Palmyra Fair Grounds and follow a festive route through town, ending at the Village Park. There, Santa will lead the countdown to light the tree and kick off the season in full glow.

Alumni of the Pal-Mac Select Choir are invited to lend their voices to caroling in the park after the parade and just before the tree lighting. Interested singers can sign up online at: https://forms.gle/H3SHtqKB2peMEemL8

Parade participants must register in advance by Wednesday, November 26 at noon. There’s no cost to enter, but registration is required to join. Scan the barcode on event flyers or complete the participation agreement online.

Whether you come for the music, the lights, or the hometown spirit, Palmyra’s Holiday Celebration promises a full day of fun and festive memories.
