The Buffalo Bills have added reinforcements to their receiving unit, signing veteran wideout Mecole Hardman to the practice squad on Monday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported.
The move comes shortly after Buffalo was unable to make a trade deadline acquisition to strengthen its offense.
Hardman, 27, entered the league as a second-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019. He spent six seasons with the team through 2022, then split time between the New York Jets and Chiefs in 2023 before a brief stint with the Green Bay Packers earlier this year. The speedy receiver carved out a memorable legacy in Kansas City, most notably catching the overtime touchdown that sealed the Chiefs’ 25-22 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.
Known for his explosiveness, the 5-foot-10 pass-catcher averaged more than 11.7 yards per reception in four of his six campaigns with the Chiefs. Over his career, he’s totaled 178 catches for 2,296 yards and 16 touchdowns, averaging 13 yards per grab.
Hardman can be elevated from the practice squad to the active roster at least three times before he must be signed to the 53-man roster.
