Investigators said a narcotics detection canine alerted to drugs on Gorman when he reported for duty around 6:54 a.m.

A search found approximately 28.2 grams of cocaine and about 10.3 grams of heroin packaged in roughly 50 paper sleeves.

Authorities said a consent search of his vehicle uncovered an additional 0.4 grams of cocaine.

Gorman was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, three counts of first-degree promoting prison contraband, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, official misconduct and second-degree promoting prison contraband.

He was transported to the Cayuga County Jail and held pending centralized arraignment.
