Four years after applying, a Newark business owner finally opened his cannabis shop, according to the Finger Lakes Times, marking the end of a costly and slow process.
Lucas Dobbins launched Haze and Harvest in February after delays in New York’s licensing rollout left him investing heavily with no income. He staffed the store with a dozen workers and says customer traffic keeps growing.
But illegal shops crowd the market. Dobbins says several unlicensed sellers nearby undercut prices, making competition tough despite his tested, regulated products.
He’s betting customers will choose safety over savings as more legal dispensaries prepare to open across Wayne County.
