Jordan-Elbridge High School welcomes 15 new NHS members

A proud tradition continued at Jordan-Elbridge High School this week as 15 students were inducted into the Veritas Chapter of the National Honor Society during a ceremony filled with celebration and meaning.

The new members were recognized for excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and character — the four pillars of NHS.

This year’s inductees are: Shannon Ahern III, Maxwell Adams, Brody Boylan, Chase Brunelle, Abby DelFavero, Kathleen Ferrare, Sophia Guzman, Madison Maurer, Stella Opanhoske, Xavier Robinson, Gabrielle Rodriguez, Rylan Streeter, Genevieve Walrath, Calvin Whiting, and Alyssa Woytowich.

The evening opened with a performance of the National Anthem by NHS member Abigayle Bates, followed by remarks from Principal Mark Schermerhorn and Superintendent James Froio. Keynote speaker Brooke Bastian, principal of Elbridge Elementary, spoke about how the NHS values connect to the district’s theme of “All Means All.”

Current NHS officers led the traditional candle lighting ceremony and welcomed each new member to the stage to receive their certificate and take the NHS Pledge.

“These students represent the heart of what it means to be an Eagle — hardworking, compassionate and committed to making a difference,” Schermerhorn said.
