Dundee man indicted again on child sex abuse charges

A Yates County man already serving time for child sex crimes is now facing another indictment.

According to the Yates County District Attorney’s Office, 49-year-old Ronald Chilson of Dundee was indicted on October 15 for predatory sexual assault against a child younger than 13. It marks the fourth time he’s been charged with sex crimes involving minors. If convicted, he could receive a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

Chilson’s history of charges dates back to July 2024, when he was first indicted on counts including first-degree sexual abuse, first- and second-degree criminal sexual acts, and second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child. He was accused of multiple incidents involving children between 2022 and 2023.

In September, Chilson pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual act and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, along with 20 years of post-release supervision. He was also required to register as a sex offender, and orders of protection were issued for all victims.

The Yates County District Attorney’s Office encourages anyone who suspects child abuse to contact the New York State Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment at 1-800-342-3720.
