Brown spoiled Senior Day for Cornell women’s soccer with a 2-0 victory on Saturday afternoon at Berman Field, powered by first-half goals from Joy Okonye and Corine Gregory.
Okonye opened the scoring in the 31st minute when her right-footed shot deflected off a Cornell defender and slipped past goalkeeper Natalie Medugno. Seven minutes later, Gregory extended the Bears’ lead, capitalizing on a corner kick from Audrey Lam during a scramble in front of goal. The two early tallies were enough for Brown (9-2-4, 3-1-2 Ivy), which earned its 14th straight win over the Big Red.

Cornell (5-6-4, 2-4-0 Ivy) pushed hard in the second half, outshooting Brown 10-6 after intermission and 16-11 overall, but couldn’t break through against freshman goalkeeper Addison Etter. Etter finished with seven saves to secure her first career shutout, denying strong chances from Tanum Nelson, Ivy Tolbert, Gaby Gonzalez, Mariana Kessinger, and Abigail Bishara. Nelson led all players with five shots, matching her career high.
Medugno recorded three saves for Cornell, which played with energy throughout but couldn’t convert its second-half momentum into goals. The loss drops the Big Red to sixth in the Ivy League standings.
Cornell closes its regular season next Saturday, November 1, with a 5 p.m. matchup at Dartmouth (7-3-4, 2-1-2 Ivy) at Burnham Field.
