DOJ sues New York over voter data access

The U.S. Justice Department is suing New York and several other states for refusing to hand over full voter registration lists, including Social Security and driver’s license numbers, according to WENY.

Election watchdogs and officials from both parties slammed the request, calling it unconstitutional and a threat to voter privacy. Critics argue the DOJ is overreaching its authority and potentially undermining state control over elections.

New York’s Board of Elections is reviewing the lawsuit but declined to comment.
