MVP cuts Medicare Advantage plans over rising costs

Thousands of Rochester-area seniors will lose their $0 premium Medicare Advantage plans next year as MVP Health Care pulls back due to soaring healthcare costs, according to WROC.

The nonprofit insurer serves 17,000 local members and says it can’t absorb the increases like national carriers. New replacement plans will cost $160 to $229 per month starting in 2026.

Medicare’s annual enrollment period opens October 15, with members needing to choose new coverage by December or default to Original Medicare.
