The New York State Gaming Commission has unanimously appointed Cindy Rubi Estrada to the Gaming Facility Location Board — the panel responsible for selecting future casino sites across the state.
Estrada brings decades of business experience and community leadership to the board, which is overseeing the siting of up to three new commercial casinos in New York.
Born in East Harlem, raised in Puerto Rico, and a longtime resident of The Bronx, Estrada began her entrepreneurial journey at age 19. She’s held a variety of leadership roles over the years — from founding a women’s boutique and a manufacturing company to managing corporate travel services.
She currently serves as Executive Director of the New York City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, where she’s been a leading voice for small businesses and Hispanic entrepreneurs since the Chamber’s inception.
Commission Chair Brian O’Dwyer praised the appointment, saying, “I thank Cindy Estrada for lending her expertise and taking on this true public service. The Board’s work has far-reaching implications for the entire State.”
The Gaming Facility Location Board is charged with reviewing casino applications and recommending which proposals move forward for licensure. Estrada joins board members Vicki Been, Terryl Brown, Marion Phillips III, and Greg Reimers.
