Junior forward Alanna Colbert stunned the Bulldogs just 58 seconds into the match, sprinting onto a through ball from Emily Gibbons and slotting a right-footed shot past the charging goalkeeper. The tally marked Colbert’s team-leading sixth goal of the season and Gibbons’ first career point.

Senior goalkeeper Natalie Medugno anchored the defense in her season debut, stopping four shots to register her 6.5th career shutout, tying her for ninth on Cornell’s all-time list. Senior defender Gaby Gonzalez also came up big with a last-second block to preserve the clean sheet.

Cornell managed three shots on goal to Yale’s four but capitalized on its early chance and defended relentlessly. Despite the Bulldogs’ 14 corner kicks and a 9-1 second-half shot advantage, the Big Red limited Yale to half-chances over the final 45 minutes.

Cornell returns home Saturday, October 4, hosting Harvard at noon for Homecoming and Alumnae Weekend at Berman Field.
