Giancarlo Stanton homers twice as Yankees top Orioles, keep AL East hopes alive (highlights)

Giancarlo Stanton’s two towering two-run homers and Aaron Judge’s solo blast kept the Yankees’ division hopes alive Friday night, lifting New York to an 8-4 win over the Baltimore Orioles at Yankee Stadium.

The win improved the Yankees to 92-68, keeping them tied with the Toronto Blue Jays atop the American League East. However, with the Blue Jays holding the season-series tiebreaker, New York must gain a game over the final two days to claim the division and a first-round bye in the postseason. Toronto maintained its edge with a 4-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays earlier in the night.

Stanton drove in five runs, including both of his two-run shots, while Judge’s 52nd home run of the season marked the 58th time the pair have gone deep in the same game, the eighth-most for any duo in MLB history.

Will Warren picked up the win in his final start of the regular season despite surrendering four runs on six hits over five innings. The right-hander finished with a 4.44 ERA over 33 starts (162.1 innings). The bullpen, consisting of Mark Leiter Jr., Tim Hill, Fernando Cruz, Camilo Doval, and David Bednar, combined for four scoreless innings.
