A 16-year-old briefly escaped custody while being transported to jail in Geneseo on Wednesday, according to News10NBC.
Livingston County deputies say the teen fled on Main Street and was later found hiding in a backyard nearby. He was taken back into custody without incident.
The sheriff’s office is investigating how the escape happened, noting that New York law generally bars handcuffing 16-year-olds.
