Ontario County District Attorney Jim Ritts says his final day on the job will be October 10 — ending 26 years in the office after a rough final stretch, according to 13WHAM.
Ritts had planned to run again after losing the Republican primary but reversed course, citing personal reasons and health reflections. His departure follows fallout from a staff party involving alcohol in a courthouse, which led to a policy violation and backlash.
Most of Ritts’ team is leaving too — only two prosecutors may remain by year’s end. Incoming candidate Jason MacBride says he’s ready to rebuild the office and restore stability if elected in November.
