The road leading to the upper section of Onanda Park Uplands in Canandaigua will close starting Monday, September 22, as crews begin a major infrastructure project expected to last through the winter.
Town officials say the closure is necessary to allow the Highway Department and construction teams to complete critical safety and accessibility improvements without delays or hazards to the public.
“We know how much residents and visitors value Onanda Park, and this work is essential to ensuring the Uplands are safe and accessible for the future,” said Town Supervisor Jared Simpson.
Highway Superintendent Jim Fletcher added that closing the road will give crews the space to work more efficiently. “We look forward to reopening improved facilities for everyone to enjoy,” he said.
Construction will continue into early 2026. The town will post updates on its website and app as the work progresses.
