Juvenile arrested after police say they violated protection order

A 13-year-old was arrested in Waterloo after police say the teen contacted someone they were legally ordered to stay away from.

Officers took the juvenile into custody on Aug. 21 around 8:23 p.m. following an investigation into the alleged violation. The arrest was for criminal contempt in the second degree.

Police said the youth made contact with the protected party of an active order of protection. Because the suspect is underage, their name has not been released.

The juvenile was issued an appearance ticket and is expected to return to court at a later date.
