A 46-year-old man was sentenced to nearly eight years in federal prison after selling heroin and fentanyl that led to a near-fatal overdose.
Bradley D. Knapp of Jamestown will serve 97 months behind bars after pleading guilty to federal drug conspiracy charges, prosecutors announced Wednesday.
Knapp admitted to selling heroin, fentanyl, and methamphetamine for profit and personal use — and using Facebook to run parts of the operation. In one case, his sale of fentanyl-laced heroin led to a serious overdose.
Overdose followed drug sale
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, on August 12, 2020, Knapp sold roughly one gram of heroin mixed with fentanyl to a buyer identified as M.H. The next day, M.H. overdosed after using just half a gram of the drug. They stopped breathing and required multiple doses of Narcan to be revived.
Knapp used a residence on West 9th Street in Jamestown as a hub for storing, packaging, and distributing the drugs, according to the investigation.
Part of larger federal crackdown
The case was part of a broader effort under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) program, which targets high-level drug traffickers using a multi-agency approach.
The investigation involved the Jamestown Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.
