New details have been released in the fatal crash that occurred Wednesday morning at the intersection of State Route 5&20, Hickox Road, and Cooley Road in Canandaigua.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, 40-year-old Jonathan Stills of Lima was driving a box truck westbound on 5&20 when he failed to stop at a red light and struck an SUV entering the intersection from Hickox Road. The crash sent the truck into a utility pole, where it became entangled. Stills was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials say there is no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved. The crash remains under investigation pending autopsy results and toxicology testing.
The driver of the SUV, 29-year-old Kassandra Yankanich of Canandaigua, was not injured. A child passenger in the SUV was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with shoulder pain.

The crash occurred just before 11 a.m. on August 27 and resulted in road closures throughout the area. Emergency crews from Cheshire Fire, Canandaigua Emergency Squad, New York State Police, and the Ontario County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.
