Roadside struggle leads to charges in Wayne County

Deputies arrested a 29-year-old Wolcott man early Monday morning after a traffic stop escalated into a struggle.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 2:30 a.m. on Washington Street in the Village of Wolcott. Deputies say Cody Kerr pulled into an unrelated driveway and tried to exit his vehicle immediately as the stop began.

Kerr was reportedly uncooperative, both verbally and physically. At one point, deputies say he tried to get back into the driver’s seat. He continued to resist until he was taken into custody without further incident.

Kerr was charged with obstructing governmental administration, aggravated unlicensed operation, and failure to stop when emerging from a driveway. He was released with appearance tickets and will face the charges in Village Court at a later date.
