FanDuel and other mobile sportsbooks have stopped operating on Cayuga Nation land after tribal leaders warned the activity violated federal law, according to The Citizen.
The Nation’s attorney said Class III gaming, including mobile sports betting, requires both a federally approved ordinance and a tribal-state compact — and the Cayugas have no compact with New York.
The state Gaming Commission confirmed several operators have voluntarily geofenced the reservation, which stretches across parts of Cayuga County. Some sportsbooks still operate there, and the Nation is threatening legal action if they don’t comply.
