Stefanik backs Trump law-and-order push, slams NY bail law

Rep. Elise Stefanik says she supports former President Donald Trump’s new law-and-order directive in Washington, D.C., and is renewing her call to roll back New York’s cashless bail system.

In a statement Monday, the House Republican leadership chair argued that the state’s bail reforms have fueled crime by letting repeat offenders return to the streets within hours. She accused Gov. Kathy Hochul of enabling “pro-criminal policies” and said restoring stricter bail laws is necessary to “save New York.”

Stefanik also tied New York’s situation to crime concerns in the nation’s capital, calling both examples of failed Democratic leadership.

She said she will continue pushing to give law enforcement and prosecutors more power to keep offenders in jail.
