Police arrested a Geneva man after a loaded handgun was found in the yard of a multi-unit home on Geneva Street last weekend.
According to the Geneva Police Department, officers were called to the scene on Saturday, August 2, after someone reported discovering a handgun. Officers located a Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 9mm semi-automatic pistol and determined it belonged to John A. Arroyo, a resident of the city.
Following an investigation, Arroyo was arrested on Wednesday, August 6, and charged with reckless endangerment in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor. He was processed at the Geneva Police Department and released with an appearance ticket for a future court date.
The firearm was secured by police for safekeeping, and officials have submitted a referral to the Ontario County Court for review of Arroyo’s pistol permit.
