Police release surveillance image in Nieder Park vandalism case

Geneva police have obtained surveillance footage of a vehicle believed to be involved in the vandalism of the basketball court at Nieder Park Playground earlier this week.

The incident happened on August 4, when someone intentionally damaged the newly resurfaced court—just one month after its completion. Cleanup costs are expected to be at least $2,500, according to the Geneva Police Department.

Detectives are now asking for the public’s help to identify the vehicle or the person driving it. So far, the department says community members have already provided helpful leads.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Geneva Police Department or Detective Daniel Hickey. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
