Binghamton residents can expect faster internet soon, thanks to a network upgrade from Spectrum, according to WIVT. A Vestal-based crew used a kayak to pull fiber optic line across the Susquehanna River in a unique installation effort near downtown.
The National Cable Craft Corporation team began the process by dragging a lead wire—called a bull line—across the river, which was later used to suspend the fiber cable overhead. Spectrum says the upgrade, set for completion next year, will bring gigabit upload and multi-gigabit download speeds to local customers.
Officials say the project is part of a broader push to improve internet reliability and performance across the region.
