Thousands of Boeing employees responsible for building fighter jets began striking early Monday after rejecting a revised labor deal, according to the Associated Press. The walkout involves about 3,200 union members across facilities in Missouri and Illinois.
The workers, represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, had previously turned down a 20% wage increase proposal. Boeing’s latest offer included 40% average wage growth and scheduling changes, but union members said it still fell short of securing fair treatment and benefits.
The strike adds pressure to Boeing, which is already facing public scrutiny after fatal crashes and financial setbacks. The company reported narrowed second-quarter losses last week but remains under strain amid continued labor and operational challenges.
