The Buffalo Sabres’ home will remain the KeyBank Center through at least the 2035-36 season after the team reached a 10-year naming rights extension with KeyBank.
KeyBank, which assumed naming rights in 2016 following its acquisition of First Niagara Bank, maintains a strong presence in the Buffalo region. The renewed agreement includes added branding, KeyBank’s logo will appear on Sabres’ helmets during away games beginning this season.
The arena, which first opened in 1996, is currently undergoing major renovations. Upgrades so far include a new roof and a state-of-the-art video scoreboard. Upcoming improvements will focus on fan amenities and seating enhancements, part of a broader effort by the team to modernize the venue.
Operated by the Sabres, the KeyBank Center is also home to the NLL’s Buffalo Bandits and is set to host high-profile events, including a Paul McCartney concert and a U.S.-Canada women’s hockey Rivalry Series matchup this fall.
While the building looks toward a brighter future, the Sabres continue working to end their NHL-record 14-season playoff drought.
