A key stretch of State Route 21 in Ontario County will close for more than two months starting next week as crews begin a culvert replacement project.
The New York State Department of Transportation says the closure will take effect at 6 a.m. Monday, April 27, impacting Route 21 between Griesa Hill Road and State Route 64 in the Town of South Bristol.
Motorists will be detoured using County Route 12 while construction is underway. Officials expect the road to reopen by the end of June, though the timeline could shift depending on weather conditions.
Drivers should plan for delays and consider alternate routes, especially during peak travel times. Work zone safety is also being emphasized, with DOT reminding motorists that fines are doubled for speeding in construction zones and repeat violations can lead to license suspension.
The project is part of ongoing infrastructure work aimed at maintaining roadway safety and reliability in the region.
