A Rochester man was arrested Saturday after authorities said he returned to Eastview Mall weeks after allegedly stealing merchandise from a sporting goods store.
Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies said the arrest took place around 1:32 p.m. at Dick’s Sporting Goods, where the suspect had previously been accused of shoplifting.
Christian Samuel Hernandez Rivera, 43, was charged with petit larceny following an investigation into a March incident at the store. Loss prevention staff reported that on March 28, Hernandez Rivera concealed approximately $75 worth of basketball cards and left the store without paying.
Deputies said Hernandez Rivera returned to the Eastview Mall property on April 25, at which point he was identified and taken into custody in connection with the earlier incident.
He was transported to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office substation at the mall and later released on an appearance ticket. Hernandez Rivera is scheduled to answer the charge in Victor Town Court at a later date.
