Friendship awarded $2M EPA grant for water system upgrades

The Town of Friendship will receive a $2 million federal grant to overhaul its aging drinking water infrastructure, Congressman Nick Langworthy announced Friday.

The funding, awarded by the Environmental Protection Agency through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, will be used to replace leaking, undersized water mains and construct a new storage tank.

“I’m proud to deliver this $2 million federal investment to the Town of Friendship to replace outdated, failing water infrastructure,” Langworthy said. “This funding will allow Friendship to build a system that provides clean, dependable drinking water for generations.”

The grant was secured as part of H. Res. 4366, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024, signed into law in March.

Langworthy emphasized that the investment reflects a broader need to support infrastructure in rural communities. “This is exactly the kind of smart federal investment our rural communities need and deserve,” he said.
