Hydrant flushing begins in Hornell overnight

The City of Hornell will begin flushing fire hydrants starting Saturday, July 12, according to WETM. The maintenance will take place overnight through July 18 across the City of Hornell, the Town of Hornellsville, and the Village of North Hornell.

Crews will operate between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. to minimize disruption. Residents are advised to avoid doing laundry and to check for water discoloration before use. If discoloration occurs, officials recommend running cold water until it clears.

The city urges caution and thanks residents for their cooperation during this routine process.
