Lima Town Supervisor Mike Falk has been elected chair of the Genesee/Finger Lakes Regional Planning Council, a nine-county organization focused on regional collaboration, planning, and development.
Falk has served on the council since 2020 as Livingston County’s representative. In his new role, he plans to increase outreach to local municipalities and promote the council as a valuable resource for planning support, training, and access to state and federal programs.
“I plan to market the organization to all the member municipalities as a place to go for quality assistance with planning, training, grants and New York state and federal programs,” Falk said. “G/FLRPC is that team member.”
The council serves Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates counties, helping communities navigate shared regional issues while securing funding and technical assistance.
Livingston County Planning Director Megan Crowe, who also serves on the council, praised Falk’s leadership style.
“Supervisor Falk has a strong understanding of local government needs and a collaborative leadership style that make him an excellent choice to lead such a large and diverse organization,” Crowe said.
Falk will serve a one-year term. He emphasized that regional success depends on training, shared experiences, and a willingness to compete for resources.
“If we choose not to compete, we do not maintain our position, we fall backward,” Falk said. “As a region we can help each other move forward together.”
