Motorcyclist dies after colliding with deer in Monroe County

A 79-year-old man died after his motorcycle struck a deer on a state parkway in Monroe County, New York State Police said.

Troopers identified the victim as James Gleason of Hilton, who was ejected from his motorcycle in the crash and later died at the hospital.

The collision occurred around 5:04 p.m. on June 2 on the westbound side of Lake Ontario State Parkway in the town of Greece. According to investigators, a deer entered the road and struck Gleason’s 2003 Honda motorcycle, throwing him from the vehicle.

Emergency responders from AMR Ambulance and the Lakeshore Fire Department assisted at the scene. Gleason was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
