Firefighters from more than ten departments responded to a fast-moving house fire early Wednesday morning on Pearl Street in the Village of Clifton Springs. And now we’re learning more about that response.

The call came in around 1:23 a.m., with multiple 911 reports of a house on fire. Within three minutes, Clifton Springs Fire Department and Phelps Fire Department crews were on scene and confirmed a working structure fire with flames rapidly spreading up the outside of the home and into the attic.
Clifton Springs Assistant Chief 501 took command and immediately requested a second alarm, citing heavy fire conditions. Engine 531, arriving first with five interior firefighters, launched an aggressive interior attack using two handlines. Tower 581 arrived next, setting up a defensive position to protect a neighboring home. Phelps Engine 2131 followed, backing up the interior crew with an additional handline.
As fire continued to spread into the attic and upper floors, a third alarm was issued for additional manpower. A special call was made for Newark Fire Department to bring a ladder truck to assist with roof operations due to the structure’s age and roofing materials. All three ladder trucks at the scene were used to fully extinguish fire on the upper levels.
The fire is now under investigation by the Ontario County Emergency Management Office. No injuries were reported, but the condition of the structure has not yet been released.
Responding agencies included Clifton Springs, Phelps, Manchester, Shortsville, Port Gibson, Hopewell, Farmington, Marbletown, and Seneca Castle fire departments, along with Newark Fire Department and Finger Lakes Ambulance.
