A 65-year-old Bath man is facing drug-related charges after a late-night traffic stop uncovered suspected methamphetamine and signs of impaired driving.
According to the Village of Bath Police Department, an officer stopped a vehicle just after 12:30 a.m. on August 8 after it ran a red light at Liberty Street and West William Street.
The driver, identified as Nathaniel Pittman, was suspected of being involved in narcotics activity. Police called in K9 Bud, who alerted on the vehicle, indicating the possible presence of drugs.
A probable cause search turned up a burnt crack cocaine pipe, a container with crystal residue resembling methamphetamine, and a small rock of suspected meth. All items were seized. Charges related to the substances are pending lab results.
Police also believed Pittman was under the influence of drugs while driving. He was given field sobriety tests and arrested for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, a misdemeanor.
Pittman was processed and released on an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in Bath Village Court at a later date. The passenger in the vehicle was not charged.
